The 2006 Farmer’s Market season marked the beginning of Woodshack Bakery. My booth began selling organic granola and gradually added muffins, cookies, and strawberry lemonade. When the Farmer’s Market season ended I found local retailers that were eager to sell my products, Night Fire Natural Foods, and Ashland Food Co op being the first to sell my organic granola.
Selling wholesale allowed me to increase my product line to meet the needs of my customers. I added shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate for A Leap of Taste, and chocolate dipped biscotti for Linkville Kitchen and Candy Shoppe. Woodshack Bakery uses real butter, local eggs from Poetential Farms, organic canola oil, Euphoria baking chocolates, organic coconut, and organic seeds.
After two seasons at the Farmers Market and a loyal wholesale base it became time to look to the future. Being approached by the Winema to rent a remodeled kitchen facility was an opportunity I could not pass up. This new facility has allowed me to increase wholesale capacity and offer specialty orders.

A Taste of Klamath
Bakery’s sweets just one taste of Klamath

Renea Wood had just been playing around in the kitchen, making granola for friends, when someone suggested she try selling it. Since then, Wood’s baking business, Woodshack Bakery, has rolled along getting bigger and sweeter with every step.
Woodshack Bakery sweets will be among the samplings at Saturday’s Taste of Klamath at the Ross Ragland Theater.
Working from home, Wood started selling at the Klamath Falls Farmers Market, but found her customer’s
were interested in buying year-round.
Because of her exposure at the Farmers Market, the landlord of the Winema Inn came looking for her to fill an open bakery space in the building on Main Street which he had remodeled.
Wood moved into space last fall and now prepares wholesale and made-to-order items.
At Taste of Klamath Wood will offer cupcakes, and her special “image” sugar cookies.
Wood’s “image” cookies are getting some far-flung exposure. They are just simple sugar cookies, with food color printed edible stickers, making the 4 inch diameter circles great advertising vehicles that go straight to the gut.
She’s printed up cookies with 4-H OIT Jeld-Wen logos for local events, and these cookies have made it to Salem and around the state for the Governor’s Conference on Tourism, and she’s talking with a political consultant which might have Sen. Greg Walden bringing her cookies to political towns like Washington, D.C., New York City, and Sacramento.
Wood expects her sweet little signboards to get pretty big.
For now, Wood is content with wholesale baking locally because it allows her flexibility for bake her hours around family life.
Even so, she did admit having a cupcake shop would be nice and the growing niche for gourmet cupcakes in bigger cities is always getting bigger.
